Nice Man-Machine Interaction Vision

with one comment

A realy nice idea of how the human interface of PCs could evolve. And nicely presented!

Comes from 10/GUI.

When will Apple release it? ;-)

Paris in ze pocket

comment - kommentieren

Check this out: Paris on your iPhone, superrealistic!!

The company that built it is called Mobile 3D City (good name they selected) and claims it’s on the way through acknowledge process for the iTunes app store. Looking forward to play with it, although I guess one needs a 3 GS iPhone to use it…
Enjoy your day,
– Till.

To tweet or not to tweet

comment - kommentieren

Somehow my tweet-rate droppped dramatically. Same with my blog-rate. What’s the reason?

Many studies showed, that this is a typical behavior of young tweeters: Only 40% of them tweet on after the first month. They just get bored by the type of information that are published through this media. Do I fall in this pattern too?

Honestly, I don’t think so. It’s true that I almost quit twittering, but the reason is another one: If I look at what happened in my life when I started and stopped twittering, there is one factor that clearly pops up: the iPhone.

I started twittering when I got it, I quit when it broke. Same applies to my facebook usage. Am I happier with or w/o twittering? I honestly don’t have the feeling myself that twitter & facebook were stealing me valuable time. I used time that was unused before to read & post.

So the real question is: Will I get an iPhone again? I don’t think in the near future. But I think that a proper twitter/facebook client will definitly be on the must-have list for my next smartphone. Until then I use Daniel’s old E90…

Have a good night & a good working week,

– Till.

No more iPhone at hand – plenty of free time

comment - kommentieren

So, my iPhone is still dead. I still didn’t manage to get in touch with the insurance to get it fixed…

Anyway, there is another recent finding: W/o an iPhone at hand I have far more free time to spend. I used to spend a couple of hours playing with my phone every day – I think. Now this time is all free. You might notice a drop in posting frequency on twitter, facebook, even on my blog: Reading less RSS feeds I have less stories to re-submit, so less content for the blog.

Although I spent quite some time playing with my iPhone, this one is far worse.

Who knows who my online-times will be with a Android phone or a Palm Pre? Is online time a measure of quality for a smartphone? Currently I use the old Nokia E90 of a colleague: It has a lot of functionality, but surfing is no, twitter is no, facebook is no no. The whole thing is just built for business…

So long so good, have a good night,

– Till.

iPhone dead, here comes Android

HTC Magic

HTC Magic

So that was it: my iPhone is dead. A tiny, little bump blocks the on/off button and it permanently goes on and then goes off and then goes on and then goes off and then goes on and then goes off and then goes on – got the pattern?

What’s next? iPhone again? No! Battery sucks, it’s slow (ever tried to open the contact app with 2.500 addresses in it?), the keyboard w/o keys is not for my fingers… But it was also really nice: The UI is top, it’s the most beautiful phone I ever had, it had great apps (fun as well as information as well as productivity). But it’s time for a change.

So now I wait for vodafone to finally bring out the HTC magic. And I am soooo curious: Will it be as nice as the iPhone to use? Battery life???? It doesn’t have a physical keyboard – which I would prefere, but anyway.

I’ll keep you posted and will let you know my first impressions as soon as I hold it in my hands.

For the one that already have an Android-Phone: What Twitter-Client? What Facebook-Client? What other must-have-software?

Have a nice evening,

– Till.
